The Alaska Federation of Natives Annual Conference 2019 was held October 17-19 at the Carlson Center in Fairbanks. This year’s conference theme was “Good Government, Alaska Driven.” Denali Commission personnel staffed a booth in the trade show tent and enjoyed answering questions about our mission, 2020 programs, and the new funding request process on the website https://www.denali.gov/funding-requests/
Federal Co-Chair Jason Hoke lead a panel during the “Building A Strong Alaska: Infrastructure” session, focusing on the importance of community-driven advocacy to lead action efforts. Fellow panelists agreed that local leadership is critical in addition to finding creative solutions for today’s rural infrastructure challenges.
